May 1: CHIEF RAYMOND J. CANUEL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
All graduating high school students who clearly demonstrate a commitment to their community and an interest in pursuing a career in the policing field are invited to apply. Three $1000 scholarships will be awarded annually to exceptional students graduating from grade 12 and entering a post-secondary institution the year the scholarship is awarded. May 3: CROATIAN SCHOLARSHIP and BURSARIES
Scholarships and Bursaries in the amounts of $500 and $1,000 are available for full time attendance either at a university, college, or a technical/vocational institute. All students of Croatian ancestry and resident in BC are eligible to apply for either a scholarship or a bursary. At least once parent must be of Croatian ancestry. Applications are also available for downloading from the Centre’s website at www.croatiancentre.com (click on Croatian Services at the bottom of the page, then click scholarships and bursaries). Applications are accepted at any time of the year. However, completed applications should be received by the deadline to be considered for the fall term or semester. May 7: YOUTH MINISTRY OFFICE SCHOLARSHIP
Two students will be selected to receive an award of $500 each to be applied to post-secondary schooling. Recipients will be young leaders who are making an impact, showing initiative, inspiring others and making a difference in their parishes, schools, communities and homes. Applicant must be a practising Catholic, living in the Archdiocese of Vancouver, be known in your parish community and pursuing a post-secondary education. May 10: BC SECONDARY SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY AND TRACK & FIELD ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
Available to graduating Grade 12 students who have a proficiency in Cross Country or Track and Field at the BC High School Provincial Championships and who will be proceeding to a post-secondary institution. May11: ROTARY CLUB OF NORTH VANCOUVER
This award is a bursary of $1000 for a student in need of financial help in pursuing a post secondary education. Candidates should be outstanding citizens involved in their community and have above average scholastic achievement in Gr.12. Reference letter from a school counsellor and/or teachers are required. May 15: NORTH VANCOUVER GIRLS SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
Annually awards 2 $500 scholarships to players who have demonstrated leadership and contributed to the NVGSA and their community. Any currently registered NVGSA player who is graduating from a North Shore secondary school this year and is planning to pursue post secondary education is eligible to apply. May 15: THE BC DAIRY FOUNDATION
has two scholarships of $500 each available for students who are enrolled in a BC secondary school, graduating this 2016-2017 school year and entering their first full-time studies in a Canadian University or College. May15: IRVING K. BARBER BC SCHOLARSHIP SOCIETY BC ABORIGINAL STUDENT AWARD
Offering awards of $1,000 - $3,500 to BC Aboriginal students who are or will be enrolled in full-time post-secondary programs of at least nine weeks long. These can be trades, certificate, diploma and degree programs. For applicants who will benefit from financial assistance in order to achieve their educational and career goals. Selections will be made based on: the student’s demonstration of educational and career goals; the student’s demonstration of financial need; and the student’s demonstration of volunteer contribution to community or school. May 17: NORTH SHORE ORTHODONTICS SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship Application Deadline: May 17, 2017
To be eligible for the North Shore Orthodontics scholarship a student must:
1. Be a resident of the following areas: West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Squamish or Whistler, or be a patient of the practice.
2. Be in Grade 7 or Grade 12, finishing June 2017.
3. Complete the application form.
4. Explain how the money will be used towards academic, athletic or artistic pursuits.
5. Submit an answer to one of the essay questions (500 word maximum).

May 31: VANCOUVER CATHOLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION GRADE 12 SCHOLARSHIP
A maximum of 6 awards of $250 each are available to graduating students who are children of VCSTA members. The VCSTA members must have at least 3 years experience in the CISVA and have been members in good standing of the VCSTA for at least 3 years. Successful applicants must show they have been accepted to a post-secondary institution for the September following graduation. Winners are chosen by a lottery draw of eligible applicants. May 31: ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BRANCH 60 (WEST VANCOUVER) SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES
Bursaries and Scholarships are open to students who are Canadian Citizens, residents of West Vancouver and intending to enter a University, College, Vocational or Trade School this fall.
Criteria for bursaries: Bursaries are offered to students demonstrating financial need. Although other applicants will be considered, preference is given to children and grandchildren of veterans and ex-service personnel who served in Canadian or British Commonwealth Forces. Students must attend two consecutive semesters beginning in the fall and carry a full course load (by student loan definition).
Criteria for scholarships: Academic achievement - minimum academic standing of 75% in final year. Demonstrated participation in sports and or recreational activities. The Italian Cultural Centre has established four Scholarships to be granted annually to four Grade 12 students residing in Metro Vancouver. One of the applicant’s parents must be of Italian heritage, as well as a member of the Italian Cultural Centre Society. The applicant will plan to attend a post-secondary institution where he or she must also be prepared to pursue Italian-language course work. Each scholarship is worth $500.00. June 27: ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS AND GEOSCIENTISTS OF BC SCHOLARSHIP
The APEGBC Foundation offers a number of Post Secondary Entrance scholarships to graduating high school students entering UBC, SFU, UVic, BCIT or UNBC that lead to a degree in engineering or geoscience. Each entrance scholarship is valued at $2,500. Several Post Secondary Transfer Entrance Scholarships valued at $1,000 each are available for graduating high school students entering a college/university engineering transfer program in BC. Scholarship selection is based on Grade 12 academics, extracurricular activities, references, financial need, and the student’s written statement outlining reasons for entering the profession. June 30: DOMINION INSTITUTE GREAT QUESTIONS OF CANADA ESSAY COMPETITION
Canadian students aged 21 years and younger are asked to reflect on some of the most pressing issues facing Canada (Does history matter: What is Canada’s place in the world?) The essay should be 1,500 words in length and can be in either official language. The winning entry will receive a cash prize of $2,000 and a trip to Ottawa for the award ceremonies in November. First and second runners-up will also receive cash prizes and their work will be published on the Institute website. A $500 bursary available to graduating students who intend to pursue full time post-secondary studies directed towoard a career which supports life issues. Applicants should be Vincentians, family members of Vincentians, or (past or present) beneficiaries of the Society, must be residents of (or studying) in BC, and must submit a letter of support from a member of the Society to whom they are not related. There are two scholarships of $1,500 each. Students must be residents of the Lower Mainland who are Roman Catholic and of Italian-Canadian origin. The graduating students must have a 3.0 (B) grade point average and be planning to attend a university or community college leading to a university degree. The goal of this $400 Scholarship is to give any student with the desire to further his/her education an equal opportunity to do so. Applicants must be BC residents of Italian heritage.
